The point of such a scrutiny is to have a winged creatures eye perspective on the simultaneous and comparing issues and issues identified with the current investigation. The initial segment manages the progression of credit from sorted out establishments to different parts like assembling industry, private corporate division and different other mechanical concerns. Studies on the institutional progression of credit in Kerala are additionally examined. The chaotic area comprising of indigenous money related offices is listed in the following part. Understanding the activity of and the potential for lodging money is significant, since in many creating nations lodging strategy is tied in with setting up new and progressively imaginative account approaches. 4. 1. 1 The financial framework in India includes the Reserve Bank of India, Commercial banks and agreeable banks and credit social orders. The business banks are the chief institutional structure of the 104 financial framework. The chief capacity of these foundations is to fulfill at the same time the portfolio inclinations of the borrowers on one side and the loan specialists on the other. They activate assets from the savers as stores and stretch out credit offices to borrowers as advances, advances and protections. Credits and advances gave by these organizations can be ordered into momentary assets and long haul reserves. The last are progressed for acquisition of plant and hardware while the previous are given to acquisition of crude materials, stores, save parts and so forth. Anyway following the customary British financial practice, business banks give all the more transient assets to the speculators in industry and exchange than long haul credits. The example of credit dispensing has experienced considerable changes since 1950. 4. 1. 2 Commercial banks stretched out credit to business and exchange to a bigger reach out than to assembling industry until 1958. Since the initiation of the second five Year Plan, which laid accentuation on fast industrialisation, the example of credit stream went in a different direction for medium and huge industry. Accordingly, the portion of industry, in broad daylight and private divisions in complete bank credit expanded from 34. 8% to 67. 5% during the period 1954 to 1968. Since nationalization of 14 significant business banks in July 1969, the Government of India alloted new needs to business manages an account concerning the progression of credit to up to this point dismissed parts, called 105 need areas. The accentuation consequently moved from industry to the need segments. Further the flexibly of credit was controlled through legal guidelines and financial guidelines. Then again the interest for bank credit has alsoâ undergone considerable increment. Factors, for example, enormous development in the quantity of modern units, broadening of existing units, increment in mechanical and farming creation, expanding requirements of short and long haul assets to keep up the expanded degrees of creation, pushed up the interest for bank credit. 4. 1. 4 ~ u ~ t and ~ m b e ~ e o k aobserved that the utilization of assets from a r* banks by the private corporate segment had surpassed its stock arrangement. Further, he found the development pace of physical resources for be all the more straightforwardly and firmly identified with security issues than bank credit. Consequently, he contended that the quickly developing firms depended vigorously on security issues than the utilization of bank credit. Arnbegeokar found that the pace of ascend in bank credit surpassed that of stock, deals and yield. Further he watched 1 L . S . Gupta (1969). The basis for his examination was the way that, in any acknowledged model of interest for cash, one regular variable is the gross national item or some otherâ variant of it in genuine terms. Therefore, he theorized that credit for any division or industry over a period must have some relationship with its presentation in genuine terms, especially yield. He watched a declining pattern in the credit stretched out by banks to enterprises since nationalization, however it was higher than different divisions. On finding that the portion of assembling area in bank credit is higher than its offer in Net Domestic Product (NDP) he infers that expansion in bank credit has happened far in abundance of increment in yield during the years 1968169 to 1973174. Another perception in accordance with his previous finding was that development in bank credit had consistently been unbalanced to development of their physical yield, particularly in businesses like cotton materials. His perception especially for the years 1975-76 and 1976-77 uncovered: (an) Increase in normal bank credit had been higher than the development of NDP beginning in enlisted producing division even at current costs (b) A considerable increment in the pace of transient bank credit to inventories; and (c) Relatively higher dependence on exchange credit. In accordance with these perceptions, he proposed arrangements to investigate credit asserts enthusiastically and relate credit to the certified creation necessities so reserves are not tied up with these huge borrowers. 4. 2. 2 K. As such, Market Segmentation is a strategy for isolating a market into littler groupings of buyers or associations where each portion has a typical trademark, for example, needs or conduct. Finding the most noteworthy approach to fragment a market is more a workmanship than a science Any helpful division plan will be based around the necessities of clients and ought to be successful in uncovering new business openings. Subside Doyle All business sectors are heterogeneous. This is clear from perception and from the multiplication of famous books portraying the heterogeneity of neighborhood and worldwide markets. Consider, for instance, The Nine Nations of North America (Garreau, 1982), Latitudes and Attitudes: An Atlas of American Tastes, Trends, Politics and Passions (Weiss, 1994) and Mastering Global Markets: Strategies for Todays Trade Globalist (Czinkotaet al., 2003). While thinking about the idea of business sectors, shopper conduct and serious exercises, clearly no item or administration offers to all buyers and even the individuals who buy a similar item may do as such for various reasons. Powerful showcasing and business procedure subsequently requires a division of the market into homogeneous fragments, a comprehension of the necessities and needs of these portions, the structure of items and administrations that address those issues and improvement of promoting techniques, to viably arrive at the objective sections. Therefore concentrating on fragments is at the center of associations endeavors to become client driven; it is additionally the way to powerful asset portion and sending. The degree of section total is an undeniably significant issue. In todays worldwide economy, the capacity to tweak items and administrations frequently requires the most smaller scale of portions: the fragment of one. Following and actualizing a market division procedure permits the firm to build its productivity, as proposed by the great value separation model, which gives the hypothetical method of reasoning to division. The most widely recognized B2B division methods utilized by programming organizations are: Dividing BY HORIZONTAL DISTINCTION An even market is a market so enhanced that its items or potentially benefits are expansive enough to address the issues of different businesses. The crowd for level markets shares qualities across ventures. In view of the extent of flat markets, the advertising endeavors that help them must arrive at this range of purchasers and imminent purchasers. Since level markets are expansive, advertisers regularly portion them into subsets. These gatherings are ordinarily founded on segment factors, for example, the possibilities pay, area or employment title. Level Segmentation Example To utilize telcos for instance they will much further section their purchasers and possibilities to address explicit necessities. To expand deals of home Internet administrations, they can focus on a particular subgroup, for example, senior residents, low pay clients or guardians with young youngsters. Dividing BY SIZE Since the requests of business-to-business clients are so spellbound, a typical strategy is to portion markets dependent on organization size. Organizations do this in light of the fact that the reasoning and procedures behind a bigger organization is ordinarily drastically not quite the same as the methodology of a littler business. Bigger organizations ordinarily utilize an increasingly formal acquisition process looking for the most minimal offer conceivable. Independent companies will in general learn towards an increasingly close to home and comprehensive sort of business course of action. Some of the time, utilizing essential data like the size of the organization, its yearly incomes, or the business own customer base program will reveal to you how you could possibly cooperate. For some situation you can be considerably progressively explicit and check the quantity of introduces of your product the organization might purchase. Size Segmentation Examples à Targeting organizations who see $500 million/year in income. Just focusing on the biggest organizations in your district dependent on number of representatives. I spent quite a while in the contact place programming space. We sold by number of operator seats. In the event that an organization had in excess of 500 operator seats they were endeavor and on the off chance that they had under 500 seats, they were mid-showcase. Fragmenting BY VERTICAL On the off chance that an item satisfies a typical need that is generally observed over an industry then vertical portioning is utilized. Inadequate for most buyer markets, vertical portioning is a compelling technique when working with a specialty item intended for a specialty industry. Single businesses like that and different enterprises regularly recognized by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) framework are frequently distinguished as vertical fragments. Deciding the end capacity of business client tells how and at what level in the flexibly chain a companys item will be utilized. What's more, this information drives how the organization positions and marketsits item. Its a straightforward inquiry how and by whom will my item be utilized? A holder distribution center may just objective organizations in the retail business, a realistic programming firm may just objective structure divisions or configuration houses, while a gracefully chain the board engineer may consider ca rgo organizations as a part of his possibilities. Vertical Segmentation Examples à A route programming merchant that lone spotlight on the voyage or trucking businesses. A measure producer that solitary administrations the car business Selling solely to wholesalers in a vertical industry (consolidated fragmenting) Recognizing a division work inside a bigger partnership Sectioning BY GEOGRAPHY While geographic sectioning is frequently used to use attributes shared by a populace living in a similar district, private ventures, those with limit restrictions, and buyer driven organizations regularly utilize geographic rules to target possibilities. As a Silicon Valley-based organization, you will be unable to support prospects west of an assigned time zone. Or on the other hand much increasingly explicit, you may fragment your possibilities to a select number of encompassing postal districts. Plainly, where are your clients concentrated? When you comprehend this information, youll no longer need to concentrate on some other geographic data. These equivalent standards can (and should) be applied to other geographic components including populace development rates, monetary factors, and confined communicated in language. Geological Segmentation Examples à Introducing an exceptional item for a similar one of a kind geographic portion. A limited time crusade focusing on one district to expand deals. Fragmenting BY BEHAVIOR Simply, this fragmenting targets prospect bunches dependent on their purchasing conduct. How are your clients utilizing your item, how frequently would they say they are utilizing it, and what is the test your possibilities face? Those inquiries, combined with the affinity of your possibility to really pull the purchase trigger, are the foundation of social fragmenting. Other conduct portioning rules may incorporate brand reliability, request sizes, and any buy technique necessities. Social Segmentation Examples A product organization that discharges an item intended for early innovation adopters. A movement office focusing on voyagers who incline toward traveling during the Christmas occasion. Somewhere in the range of 80 and 90% of programming new companies bomb inside the initial three years, contingent upon how disappointment is characterized. While they for the most part come up short on cash, the foundation of the issue is frequently poor advertising, explicitly poor sectioning and focusing on. A great many people consider showcasing advancement through occasions, publicizing, internet based life, direct email, or viral strategies. In any case, those exercises, effectively and altogether known as showcasing correspondences, are the absolute last advertising exercises that ought to be finished. Promoting is better portrayed as carrying the correct item to the correct market at the correct cost at the ideal spot. In the event that this capacity is executed ineffectively, nothing else matters and nothing else should be possible to fix the issue. No measure of advancement or imaginative deals procedure will spare an organization that rehearses poor dividing and focusing o n. A typical mix-up, made by open source and exclusive programming organizations the same, is to make something and afterward search for a market that will get it. The organization that plans an item and afterward enters the market searching for a client will battle. The organization that initially gets some information about their most squeezing issues and afterward structures a convincing item to tackle one of these issues is unquestionably bound to succeed, considerably more so if the issue is a need to the client. Tragically, programming organizations will in general have an innovation inclination instead of a market predisposition. For what reason do such huge numbers of programming organizations fail to understand the situation? Also, more significantly, what would they be able to do to take care of business, or if nothing else as right as could be expected under the circumstances? There are various reasons why poor advertising is predominant, including innovation haughtiness, absence of market data, hesitation, and numbness of fragmenting and focusing on. The last is especially normal, and in open source and other programming networks, it for the most part appears as making distinctively valued item include sets, permitting, and bolster bundles for various objective fragments. That sort of sectioning just begins to be effective after an organization turns out to be entrenched and has enough clients that gathering their contrasting needs turns into a need. Another open source organization attempting to go to showcase just because ought to rather concentrate on building up an away from of who they are offering to, what their clients issues are and why the clients would utilize this item over some other. Valuing models ought to unmistakably serve the necessities and inclinations of that solitary objective. In a perfect world, an organization ought to distinguish their objective market and the worth they bring to it before their item even enter jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-91648525051830240752020-07-25T02:00:00.001-07:002020-07-25T02:00:04.592-07:00#UNGA 2019 Roundup COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog#UNGA 2019 Roundup COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY - SIPA Admissions Blog The U.N. American Racial Stereotyping Hampered Chinese Immigrants from Being Part of the Mainstream Society With the passing of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, the first federal law was enacted restricting immigrants of a specific nationality from entering the United States due to Americans attributing dire economic uncertainty to Chinese laborers who take away jobs from native-born Americans. Anti-Chinese sentiments greatly proliferated throughout the United States during the late 19th century and early 20th century. Sui Sin Far, the author of the short story ââ¬Å"Her Chinese Husband,â⬠delineates how the prejudice of society against interracial marriage between a white woman and a Chinese man challenges both Minnie Carson and Liu Kanghi as a couple in the late 19th century. On the other hand, Frank Norris, the author of the short story ââ¬Å"The Third Circle,â⬠depicts an engaged white couple, Hillegas and Miss Ten Eyck, exploring Chinatown in San Francisco with a 19th century setting and the disappearance of his fiancà ©e into white slavery; throughout the story, Hilleg as, who has strong thoughts on binary oppositions and ideologies between the West and the East, practices Orientalism by looking at the Chinese culture as barbarism. From looking at these two stories together, one can conclude that American racial stereotyping hampered Chinese immigrants from being part of the mainstream society. Domestic violence is the use, or threatened use of physical force, violence, a deadly weapon, sexual assault, or the intentional destruction of property. It is behaviour that has the intent or impact of placing a victim in fear of physical injury, and a pattern of behaviour resulting in emotional and psychological abuse, economic control, and/or interference with personal liberty that is directed towards the following: a current or former spouse, or a person with whom the abuser shares a child in common, or a current or former intimate partner. Domestic violence is behaviour ââ¬â emotional, psychological, physical, or sexual abuse ââ¬â that one person in an intimate relationship uses in order to control theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦He began to shout abusive threats and criticism at me in front of my four-year-old son, and also began to throw anything he could get his hands on at me. After it all happened he would return back to normal, take me to the hospital, and make up some reason as to why I got so hurt, this time saying that I got drunk and fell over. This wasnââ¬â¢t the first time that he had done this to me, and he told me that he would try not to do it again, providing that I stuck to the rules. I knew in his heart that he really did love me, which is why I decided to stay, like every other time he abuses me. Why donââ¬â¢t women leave from abusive relationships? All too often the question ââ¬Å"Why do women stay in violent relationships?â⬠is answered with a victim-blaming attitude. Women victims of abuse often hear that they must like or need such treatment, or they would leave. Others may be told that they are one of the many ââ¬Å"women who love too muchâ⬠or who have ââ¬Å"low self esteemâ⬠. The truth is that no one enjoys being beaten, no matter what their emotional state or self image. A womanââ¬â¢s reasons for staying are more complex than a statement about her strength of character. In many cases it is dangerous for a woman to leave her abuser. If the abuser has all of the economic and social status, leaving can cause additional problems for the woman. Leaving could mean living in fear and losing child custody, losing financial support, and experiencing harassment at work.Show MoreRelatedEssay on Domestic Violence and the Effect It Has on Family1582 Words à |à 7 PagesDomestic violence is a violent confrontation between family or household members involving physical harm, sexual assault, or fear of physical harm (Stewart Croudep, 1998-2012). They made the same presentation they had delivered at Harvard Business School. At an interesting and interactive session they spoke about the organisational structure, working style, and delivery systems of their organisation ââ¬â the Nutan Mumbai Tiffin Box Supplierââ¬â¢s Association ââ¬â to a packed weekend gathering of METizens. We will write a custom essay sample on Mumbai Dabbawalla or any similar topic only for you Order Now A lot has already been said about the supply chain management systems used by the Mumbai Dabbawalas. They have received global applause and are featured as case studies in B School books. However, what I took home was not just management fundas but lessons that I will cherish all my life. Since these lessons impacted me greatly, I felt that I must share my learnings with you. Therefore I decided to write this letter. Apart from career-making tips, I learnt life-changing tips on honesty, commitment, stress management, humility, discipline, and HR and time management. During the various challenges in life, I am sure that the values followed by the dabbawalas will give you strength to rise above the toughest odds. The lessons I learnt are: Utmost dependence on Human Capital The most vital link in this chain of food delivery is human capital. The procedures could have been laid down over a century ago, but it is the implementation of the procedures that makes the system work. The Mumbai dabbawalas propagate that correct amount of human dependence can yield amazing results. Honesty and Integrity The threads of integrity and honesty hold the dabbas together. Though it is lunchtime for dabbawalas also, the aroma wafting from the dabbas has never tempted them.Overcoming a basic instinct like hunger is possible only because of strong roots in a culture that encourages truthfulness and integrity. Discipline and Time Management The dabbawalas operate on the Chanakya system of Sama-Dama-Danda-Bhed for the errant members. This ensures that the errant member stays within the system. Secondly, they are extremely particular about time and realise the value of every second in the value chain. So much so that when Prince Charles wanted to meet them, they gave him a precise time slot so that the thousands others would not have to skip their lunch. Pride towards their work The dabbawalas take their role as ââ¬ËAnnadatasââ¬â¢ very seriously. For them, the delivery of tiffins is much beyond a job ââ¬â it means q uelling the hunger that strikes the customer when lunch hour approaches. And so they move about their mission briskly with a smile, making sure they are never late. Recruitment policies and manpower management Over the years, the dabbawalas has become a growing community of busy delivery-men who carry out their work with honesty and commitment. This is because each person in the value chain is selected very carefully and with due recommendation only. The implication of the word ââ¬Ërecommendationââ¬â¢ is different from the common parlance ââ¬â the referrer assumes responsibility for the incumbentââ¬â¢s conduct throughout the working life. Complete Contentment There was an unseen halo of positive vibrations around the members who delivered the talk. The glow on their faces came from complete contentment with their lives. They seemed as if they possessed all the happiness and riches in life. ââ¬ËBe contented in what you haveââ¬â¢ is the principle that governs their life. This is particularly surprising because the members earn not more than 5-6 thousand a month and lead a very hard life compared to most of us.Still there was not even an iota of stress on their faces ââ¬â quite contrary to many others who earn much more than them. Musical Meditation The dabbawalas belong to a sect called Warkari that regularly chants songs of praise to the Lord. Their daily bhajans sessions seem to play an important role in relieving the dayââ¬â¢s stress. They truly embody a living where one looks beyond materialistic earnings and serves with commitment for a cause. Sustained success will lead to fame The dabbawalas believe in doing their work properly and have been ensuring that the ââ¬Ëzero errorââ¬â¢ flag is held high. The one thing that emerged very strongly is that they continue to do their work without thinking about any gain. Maybe thatââ¬â¢s why success and popularity is chasing them . I do not know about you, but I could not help thinking about these humble angels all night. Is it not strange that though the Mumbai Dabbawalas have been operating since 1890 and it is only recently that you and I have noticed them? If the Dabbawalas had not received due recognition from Prince Charles, Harvard and C K Pralhad, would there be packed audiences to listen to their talk? The answer is obvious. Why does one need a phoren certificate to appreciate local goodness?I urge you to look around and discover many noble souls like the Mumbai Dabbawalas. These souls may not have received the limelight yet, but continue to carry out their work quietly. If one develops a keen eye to notice positives, one can achieve success in every endeavour. So, begin fishing for goodness ââ¬â starting today. If you apply your mind to this, I am sure you will be able to gain much more than what I could. It is a play full of love, magic and dreams. With fascinating characters which range from supernatural fairies to noble humans. But how do the mechanicals add understanding and enjoyment to the play? In the play there are two worlds. The first world is the court; the second is the mysterious world of fairies. The Mechanicals are used in the play to add to the audiences understanding of the play by exploring the central theme of love and its transforming power. Shakespeare shows through bottom that something ugly can turn beautiful through love. The mechanicals are also used to add to the audiences enjoyment of the play by adding humour to the play. Shakespeare uses a comic effect of names especially Bottom, as later he turns into an ââ¬Å"assâ⬠which is a donkey. The mechanicals also are always mixing up their words through oxymoron, malapropisms and nonsense words. The Mechanicals are the audienceââ¬â¢s way into the play as they appeal to all people: educated, uneducated, rich and poor in the Elizabethan time. The theatre was very different in the 1600ââ¬â¢s compared to now. It had little scenery so the acting companies had to rely on the imaginations of their audiences. The setting had to be created through the words of the play. The words of the play had to establish what time of day it was. Also men had to play women parts as it was judged to be inappropriate for a woman to undertake such a role so men for that reason were hired to act in the female roles. Consequently, in ââ¬Å"A Midsummerââ¬â¢s Night Dreamâ⬠Thisbe who is a woman would have to be played as a man, which would bring humour to the audience. In the time of William Shakespeare there was a strong belief in the existence of the supernatural. The Elizabethan Period and the academic era of the Renaissance introduced English persecution of Elizabethan Witches and Witchcraft. Ironically, this period of great learning brought with it a renewed belief in the supernatural including a belief in the powers of witchcraft, witches and witch hunts. In ââ¬Å"A Midsummerââ¬â¢s Night Dreamâ⬠the supernatural is a recurring part in the play. The Mechanicals add understanding to the play by bringing the two worlds of the play together. In ââ¬Å"A Midsummerââ¬â¢s Night Dreamâ⬠there are four main plots: The lovers, the fairies, the Mechanicals and the Duke and Duchess. The Mechanicals bring together the palace and the woods as they use both settings. They use the palace to perform their play and the woods to practise there. The mechanicals fit perfectly into the structure of the play. The higher class which are the nobles, the lower class, which are the mechanicals and the supernatural world, which are the fairies. The Mechanicals bring together the world of law, order and reason by being unsystematic. They do this by contrasting themselves to the nobles. In these quotations they show the nobles law, order and reason. My Gracious Lord[Theseus] Shows the charactersââ¬â¢ respect for Theseus, also shows that Theseus has power and embodies Athens and the law. Theseus also shows that Athens is a land of law and order. Either to die the death or abjure forever the society of me. This line shows the rigidity of the Athenian law. Because Hermiaââ¬â¢s father does not approve of her love, she must listen to him to not marry him, or to face the consequences. On the other hand the Mechanicals are not as educated as the aristocratic characters. In this quotation it shows a clear contrast between the nobles and the Mechanicals. What is Pyramus? A lover or a tyrant [Bottom] I. i. 17 This quotation shows the lack of education and shows typical characters for a male lead in the theatre. It shows the lack of education, as this play would have been read in schools, at that time if they were educated. The mechanicals also make the audience understand some of their characteristics I am to entreat you, request, you and desire you to con them by tomorrow night [Quince] L. i. 78-80 This quotation tells the audience that the Mechanicals are a little bit unreliable. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-15841292167892187202020-03-19T14:03:00.001-07:002020-03-19T14:03:02.276-07:00Movie analysis to amistad essaysMovie analysis to amistad essays Were these characters alive. Lastly, drawbacks in the working conditions of microfinance had been scrutinised. In addition, several innovations with regard to the alleviation of poverty, by promoting access to finance to the poor, developed by various countries, have been examined. Finally, conclusions were arrived at. The microfinance innovation has not been restricted to the developing countries. Europe has witnessed such innovations during the 19th century. For instance, the credit union notion was developed by Raiffeissen and his supporters. This initiative emerged from an earnest intention to break the stranglehold of the moneylenders over the rural populace and to better their lot. Such unions have burgeoned, since the 1870s, in the Rhine Province and other regions of the Ge rman States. This cooperative movement was adopted by the countries of Europe and North America, and finally spread to the developing nations. Poverty alleviation and enhancement of economic growth are objectives that can be realised by improving access to financial services. ... These innovations include; contract designs, product innovations, and regulatory policy. Recent developments in behavioural economics and randomised evaluation techniques have provided greater insight into improving financial access to poor and low income households.2 It is crucial to provide access to financial services, as the number of adult individuals without such access is of the order of 2.7 billion. The betterment of access to financial services enables families to create assets, countenance risks and defray regular expenses in a planned manner. Microfinance that addresses the genuine needs of the poor has the capacity to enhance family income.3 In addition, it improves the health and education of the children in the family, which in turn leads to less absenteeism from school. Access to finance for small market vendors has been discussed in the sequel. The provision of saving facilities to small market vendors enables them to maintain higher inventories of stock and thereby g enerate higher income. It is to be realised that microenterprises constitute the largest employer in many countries with low income. However, these entities frequently do not have access to credit and savings facilities, which has a detrimental effect on their growth.4 As such, this lack of access to financial services prevents microenterprises from investing in fixed capital, improving their turn over and employing the required number of staff. In addition, firms require savings, insurance and payment services. These services enable them to address risks in a better fashion and provide them with the required confidence to participate in new investments.5 As such, lack of access to finance markets causes many unwarranted difficulties to small firms. Protection of the public health is the main goal of the Act although the law also looks out to protect the environment from the pollution caused by air. The Environmental Protection Agency of the United States sets the national standard of air quality. The quality will protect the residents from the common pollutants like ozone, carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide. It is the duty of the state governments to chalk out plans that will meet the standards within a particular period of time. The other major sources of pollution include automobiles, trucks and power plants. The EPA sets the national standards of pollution for these sources as well. In 1970, the provisions of the Clean Air Act were passed by the congress. In 1977 and 1990, the law was amended to extend the deadlines. The basic motto of the Act has remained intact while development of new strategies for air preventing air pol lution is on progress. The act tested tremendous success. It has provided the society will cleaner air along with improvement in public health. There is 98 percent drop in the emissions of toxic lead and 35 percent drop in the emissions of sulphur dioxide. There is increase in driving by 127 percent but even then the carbon monoxide emissions have dropped by 32 percent. Elements impacting Nissanââ¬â¢s performance prior to the global alliance with Renault Internal factors: Emphasis on short-term market share growth instead of a long term success strategy; Advanced engineering and technology, plant productivity, quality management. However, less attention was given to design and innovation, on the assumption that consumers were looking for quality and safety. This implies a lack of knowledge of the market, consumerââ¬â¢s changing tastes, and showed that Nissan management did not pay too much attention to what competition was doing. External factors: The devaluation of yen from 100 to 90 yen for a US dollar; Moodyââ¬â¢s and Standard & Poorsââ¬â¢s rating agencies announced in 1999 that Nissan would be lowered from investment grade to junk unless it could not get any financial support. Both formal and informal internal procedural Nissan norms, as well as Japanese cultural norms were holding the company back. Through keiretsu investments Nissan management believed would foster loyalty and cooperation between members of the value chain, hence they invested in real estate and suppliersââ¬â¢ companies. 4 billion US dollars were invested in stock shares of other companies as part of keiretsu philosophy. Nissan Company strategic alliance with French auto car manufacturer Renault was mutually beneficial for both companies, each of them expanding portfolio and becoming more competitive in the context of globalized mature automobile market. With Renault assuming a stake of 36.8% at Nissan, the latter would retain its investment grade status. The alliance enabled Renault to penetrate and expand in international markets that it was looking for - Asia and North America. In turn, Nissan would gain market share in South America. The Japanese car manufacturer agreed to the Global Alliance Agreement in March 1991, provided it would keep the companyââ¬â¢s name, the Nissan Board of Directors would select the CEO, and it would also be responsible for implementing the companyââ¬â¢s revival plan. The Renault alliance with Nissan injected the needed cash and revolutionized the stagnated ... ...tomakers with an 11.1% operating profit margin and more than 21% ROIC . A future customer-focused plan, Quality 3-3-3 is to be implemented as of 2005, with emphasis on three categories of quality: product attractiveness, product initial quality and reliability, and sales & service quality. The key success factors of the Nissan turnaround were: 1. Vision. The meaningful progress achieved was due to the vision that Ghosn successfully shared at all levels of the company that was clear and adopted. 2. Strategy. Managementââ¬â¢s responsibility was to define the business strategy, and make sure it is deployed at every level of the company; everybody knew what was the contribution that was expected from him or from her for the company. 3.à à à à à The people committed to the turnaround from the top: personal commitment, team commitment coming from the top down. For sure the changes were not easy to implement, but the clear vision brought that people were motivated to bring to life, and the results that showed off rapidly, gave Ghosn credibility, making people feel safe about the company. The vision, strategy, commitment and results guaranteed the success of Nissanââ¬â¢s turnaround. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-92030925259839278962020-01-17T05:46:00.001-08:002020-01-17T05:46:03.724-08:00Health care marketHealth care is a complex of different kinds of services, supplies and cares which can be related to health of a person. It also includes therapeutic, diagnostic, preventive, maintenance (palliative care), as well as counseling. It also includes dispensing of prescribed medicines and their sale. (Glossary of Common Terms p.1)Classical concept of market, which supposes presence of the customer and the seller, who possess definite values and are ready to enter into mutually beneficial exchange, allows to examine sphere of health care as health care market of medical services (The health care marketplace p.1), which can be divided into three sub-markets, which are mutually connected.ââ¬Å"Throughout the health sector ââ¬â from service delivery, consulting, financing and pharmaceuticals to biotech and genetics ââ¬â the business of health care has become increasingly complexâ⬠(Health sector management p.1) [Table 1]1. The governmental health care market.Governmental sector i s not very big. Medical service here is examined as social good, from using of which have advantages all citizens. Economical relations between government and medical institutions are characterized as relations in favor of the third party: medical institution is a manufacturer of medical services, and the government is the buyer, whereas population of country uses those services (in case the citizens are insured, they can use medical service). In relation to this fact, the government cannot completely estimate quality and quantity of services, which are needed by the buyer.Population, as real consumer, cannot influence the level of payment for services and medical establishments, because demand for services from his side is not solvent. The government also ââ¬Å"pays for about half the health care purchased in this country, through the national health insurance for the poor and elderly known as Medicaid and Medicare.â⬠(Sheldon Richman, p.1)2. Insurance marketSellers of medical services in the insurance market are medical institutions, and the buyers are citizens which have formal insurance. But receiving services doesnââ¬â¢t accompanied by exchange of values between medical institutions and citizens who have insurance, ââ¬â receiving of medical help is guaranteed in correspondence with contract of insurance, concluded between insurer and consumer.Taking into account these circumstances, receiver of medical service is a person, who has insurance, but he isnââ¬â¢t a payer for the seller- for medical institution, and he doesnââ¬â¢t have market value, because he doesnââ¬â¢t pay for service himself. The direct payer ââ¬â the insurer ââ¬â is not a participant of market relations, because he doesnââ¬â¢t participate in processes of exchange at the health care market.Besides division of commodity and money flows, health insurance market actually has no competitors in prices, because actually the process of payment and conditions of servi ces provided is executed within the limits of territorial program by firmly established rates.Another point that there is no competitors is that the patient from the first time of entering medical establishment chooses this medical institution and is limited in receiving medical services within the limits of that definite program of that definite medical institution, because he has a list of medical establishments, which provide service accordingly to his insurance. We cannot not to notice one important advantage: health care insurance market differs from that of health market, which demands payment for medical services, because the person, who has insurance of such definite medical establishment doesnââ¬â¢t need any additional money to pay for medical service, in case the disease or accident is indicated in his insurance.Another point is that in the future, in case the patient is fully satisfied with service provided, he can become a constant patient, which uses additional servic es of that definite medical institution, which are not included in his insurance. In such a way health care insurance market makes a good job for medical institutions, because in accordance with statistics, expenses for attracting of new consumer are five times more of those, which you spent for preserving the consumer you already have and who is already using your medical service.Among the largest health insurance programs in USA is Medicare programà (Medicare Program, p.1)3. The health care market of payable services. The patients here are the consumers and they are ready and are able to pay for medical first-rate service, and doctors or medical institutions are the sellers, and their interests are connected with reimbursement of expenses and getting profit. Because of constant increase of competition at this market, they create conditions for constant improving of service quality, search of new products and technologies as well as strict single-out of ineffective strategies and participants of the market.Level of proposition depends on ability of medical institution to react flexibly on the constantly increasing demand: in order to increase or to decrease quantity of necessary services. Unfortunately, such flexibility is not always possible, because nowadays this niche of health care market occupy medical institutions, which have different forms of property, different subordination and channels of financing, so even in market conditions volume of proposed services not always depends on their actual manufacturer. But exactly on manufacturer depends choice of that combination of directed parameters, which are called complex of marketing (service or complex of services, price, providing a service to the consumer, way of proposition and promotion of service, personnel of medical establishment, etc), manipulating with which organization tries to satisfy demands of patients in the best way and to turn income into real increase of service quality. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-32604372136065817492020-01-09T02:09:00.001-08:002020-01-09T02:09:02.575-08:00Theories Regarding The Dynamics Of Battering Spouses ABSTRACT This paper is written about which theories regarding the dynamics of battering spouses. However, numerous scholars in different professions have studied this form of family violence and have developed a variety of reasons or causes for this type of abuse. Although several theories and studies exist in the area of intimate partner abuse, space dictates that only a few of the more well-known theories can be discussed (118). Perhaps this was a homeless man who had used up his time at the local shelter. Many people do not think homelessness is a problem, but the homeless people, mostly unseen, exist in ever-increasing numbers. Advocates for the rights of the mentally ill have helped develop new laws to protect the mentally ill from being without shelter, but lack of government funds are the real factors. Men, on the other hand, enjoyed all areas of life: working, going to the theatre, traveling around London as they pleased, with their wives (their property) waiting for them at homeà most often. What were the major social classes of the time, and about what percentage of the population did these classes comprise? Within royalty, the highest in the rankings were dukes, the second highest were marquises, and then descending from there, there were earls, viscounts and barons. In their minds there was a abundance of land out west just waiting to be claimed. The people that moved out west thought they were doing no harm, but in reality they committing genocide which is the complete annihilation of an entire race of people. If somebody is taking things from you that is very special to you what is your natural reaction?. Its to fight back and try to regain the special thing back. That is what the native Americans did to the settlers started to take there land so they started to defend it. But no we didn't get the clue. We had no real consideration toward the native Americans. We didn't ask to take there land we just did. Also the Euro-Americans had this huge group of people coming expecting land to start a family and a bigger and better life for them selves. There is no way you're going to get so many people hopes up so hi the slam it down by saying that the Native American were there first so they all would have to go home. NO WAY!!. So we just kept on going on there were swarms of settlers they were coming from foreign countries and from the east. They needed a better more efficient way to transfer people and there belongings so we started making the railroad System. Back then everything was made be hand so the rail roads couldn't turn much so sometimes the rail roads would go right through the middle of a tribe. Ferther on with the completion with the rail roads more and more people came to settle in the west. Image living in that time as an Native American the feeling of hatred toward you from theses new people that don't even speak the same language as you, and are taking over your home land. If it were me not only would I be scared but I would be mad. Still after being attacked by the Native Americans we thought that they were trying to kill us so we fought back. We used the gun which is much more deadly then a bow and arrow or a spear. So the Native Americans couldn't do much to stop us. Eventually we made a treaty allowing the Indians there own spots of land for there people, and to try to live there live as they used to . Today there is still a predugest agents the native Americans. Some people look at the Native Americans and think that they are all drunks but those are all stereotypes. I believe that what we did was wrong but if we didn't do it I wouldn't be here today. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-86379358157683865182019-11-25T21:50:00.001-08:002019-11-25T21:50:04.536-08:00Chef Yancy Essay ExampleChef Yancy Essay Example Chef Yancy Essay Chef Yancy Essay The Trends that Iââ¬â¢m making today is about cupcakes. The cupcakes has been the reigning sweet of pop civilization for some old ages now. animating non merely recipes entirely but manner graphics and collectables. The New York Times have been stand foring all types of cupcakes for illustration marshmallow cupcakes. Brownies. caramel. pudding and cocoa bit. The First reference of the cupcake can be traced as far back in 1796. when a recipes notation of a ââ¬â¢Cake Cookery . The earliest certification of the term cupcake was in 70 five formulas pastry. Cakes and Sweets meets in 1828 in Elizabeth Leslieââ¬â¢s formula cook book. In the nineteenth century they use to bake Cakes in clayware cups. remake or casts. Then took their name from the cups that were baked in. This is the usage of the name that has remain. and the names of Cup Cake is now given to any little bar that is the size of a teacup. The other sort of Cup Cake referred to a bar whose ingredients were measured by volume. utilizing a standard-sized cup. alternatively of being weighed. Recipes whose ingredient were measured utilizing a standard-sized cup could besides be baked in cups ; nevertheless. they were more commonly baked in Sns as beds or loaves. Subsequently on when the usage of volume measuring was acknowledge in place kitchen these formulas became known as 1234 bars or one-fourth bars. so call because they are made up of four ingredients. One cup of butter. two cups of sugar. three cups of flour. and flour eggs. They are obviously xanthous bars. less rich. and less expensive than lb bars. The name of those two major classed of bars were intended to signal the method of baker. Cup Cakes uses a volume measuring and Pound Cakes uses a weight of measuring. Now dayââ¬â¢s cupcakes are really popular they have been around for many old ages in different bakeshops. eating house and chiefly food market shops. There are some many alone cupcakes out at that place such as Bee Sleet cupcakes. Black Cat cupcakes. Chocolate Chip cupcakes. Black Cherry cupcakes. and my favourite Strawberry cupcakes with the jimmiess. Cup bars are truly non that expensive and everyone loves cupcakes. I even make them myself at place. Do I believe that cupcakes are of all time traveling to stop NO But I read that a few old ages back that shops drew a line stating that the sugar high might be over. Stating that it didnââ¬â¢t have the epicurean that it one time had. In the early twenty-first century a tendency for cupcakes stores. which are specialised bakeshops that sell small or nil except cupcakes. was develop in the United States. playing off of the sense of nostalgia evoked by the bars. In the New York City. cupcakes stores like Magnolia Bakery gained promotion in their visual aspects on popular telecasting shows like HBOââ¬â¢s and Sex and the City. Crumbs Bake Shop. a promotion traded concern running the largest cupcakes store concatenation in the U. S. reached its peak stock monetary value in 2011. Worsening gross revenues. due to competition from locally owned mom- and- dad forte shops every bit good as increased competition from food market shops. caused a crisp diminution in the companyââ¬â¢s chance and stock monetary values in 2013. Which made the Wall Street Journal studies that the market for luxury cupcakes Dallas bakeshops like scattering Cupcakes or Creme de la cookies is all but done for. Rumors has it that Crumb is one of many cupcakes sellers around the state theyââ¬â¢ve unfastened in the past decennary with a focal point on calories- loaded pastries and premium monetary values to fit. And yet the concatenation is presently sing important downward gesture: 2013 gross revenues to approximately $ 57 million a downward that Crumb blames in portion on Hurricane Sandy. But reading on assorted analysts. the Journal found plentifulness of pessimism to travel about: as Darren Tristano. executive frailty president of nutrient industry consulting house Technomic put it. the cupcake crazed was merely a short-run tendency. Their starting to see a existent saturationâ⬠¦ Demand is level. And rather honestly. people can bake cupcakes. Of class those within the industry. like Yogen Fruz co-founder Michael Serruya. takes the opposite position: Serruya merely did a 10 million fiscal trade with Crumb and says the gourmet- otherwise. Which mean that decidedly hold confident that cupcakes was traveling to be about for a really long clip. On the expensive field of cupcakes I truly donââ¬â¢t think that cupcakes are truly expensive. I think that they should maintain cupcakes about longer because they have came up with all types of different cupcakes. Different manners of cupcakes and they besides came up with a cupcake bar for kids. Besides if there wasnââ¬â¢t for cupcakes how would coat would of all time be bing. It this one bakeshop in Chicago where I use to travel up as a child around my old house and I that bakeshop is still standing today. That tells you that cupcakes are still at that place. I donââ¬â¢t believe its how you make the cupcake I think it is where you sell the cupcakes at. For blink of an eyes If I was to travel to a egular vicinity and I see a bakeshop that is closed down that state me that whatever they where selling in that bakeshop that did non win and likely travel to another location. The most popular topographic point around the universe that sells the best doughnuts is Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donuts. Since Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donutsââ¬â¢ comparable gross revenues growing stood at 2. 8 in 2011. The figure accelerated to 7. 2 % in the first one-fourth of 2012 helped by the debut of new menu points such as Hillshire sausage sandwich in the 4th one-fourth of 2011 and Angus steak and egg sand which at the start of 2012. These offerings besides helped clients view Dunkin as a eating house concatenation offering more than merely java or doughnuts. Further the sale of Dunkin Donut K-cups compatible with Keurig individual cup beer makers. is besides a hiking the gross revenues at its eating house. Comp gross revenues slowed to 4 % in the 2nd one-fourth. which was by and large in line with the company outlook. We expect the figure to remain in a similar scope in the long term. Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donuts plans to duplicate the figure of eating house in the U. S. to 15. 000 in the following 20 old ages. In 2012. the eating house concatenation added 260-280 eating house in the U. S. The company still has no presence in the province of California. were it is working on constructing infrastructural demand needed to back up its operations. The western portion of the U. S. represent a important growing chance for Dunkin since its incursion is merely one shop for one million people. There are other provinces to. like Texas. were the eating house concatenation has a limited presence and had late unveiled programs to spread out rapidly. Since the eating house are franchised. merely a fraction of the entire capital outgo is incurred by Dunkinââ¬â¢ . In 2011 the eating house concatenation added 243 mercantile establishment in the U. S. while capital outgo for the entire company stood at $ 19 million. So. they donââ¬â¢t expect its enlargement thrust to set a strain on its balance sheet. Well I know that decidedly have to look out for Starbucks the greater the presence. the more hard its gets to prolong high comp gross revenues since the new restaurant start cannibalising the gross revenues of bing 1s. Starbucks faces similar state of affairs back in 2008 which forced it to close some of its shops in the U. S due to spread outing excessively rapidly. I have a $ 34 monetary value estimation for Dunkin Brands. which is about 15 % above the current market monetary value. So you see if it wasnââ¬â¢t for Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donuts for maintaining their selling trade name up it would likely be really difficult for us to happen and delightful doughnuts. I can candidly state that I love Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donuts and I shop their all the clip. I can believe Starbucks will even seek to come out. Quite frankly I think Starbucks are a clump of transcript cats and at any sum of clip I think at that place small tendency is traveling to travel down the drain. And to my cognition there is no donut topographic point that isnââ¬â¢t better that Dunkinââ¬â¢ Donuts. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-40776171806176922382019-11-22T05:14:00.001-08:002019-11-22T05:14:06.476-08:00Cement Industry UAE is one of the prospering economies of the world whose per capital income is in par with some of the most developed nations of Europe. This is attributable to the oil revenues and the booming real estate market. This boom created a base for competition in the country market from different sectors like industrial sector especially mentioned the ââ¬Å"Cement Industryâ⬠. Cement industry is fast growing due to the growing real estate market in the country and especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. At present, there are nine cement factories in United Arab Emirates and they produce 8. 5 million tons of cement every year. The emirate of Ras Al Khamah is the largest cement producer in United Arab Emirates. In our report, we studied the cement industry in UAE and analyzed them financially for the years from 2008 to 2010. Assuming that three main cement producers in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will represent the whole cement market as they are the biggest cement producers according to the economic publications and their level of productions. The analysis included Union Cement Company (UCC), Gulf Cement Company (GCC) and Ras Al Khaima Cement Company (RAKCC). The choice of the companies based on the similarity of their core business and productions activities beside the fact that they all listed in Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange market (ADX) giving us the opportunity for fair comparison. Financial analysis for the companies based on their published annual financial reports in ADX has been conducted to check their financial performance for the years from 2008 to 2010. The analysis take in consideration the corporate governance mechanism conducted in each company to check the effectiveness of the corporate governance on their financial performance in the market. Assuming the average of the three companies will represent the market, an overall ranking of the best company in the market is conducted based on financial analysis ratios and their corporate governance mechanism implemnted. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-2136795553672232482019-11-20T20:36:00.001-08:002019-11-20T20:36:03.607-08:00Reduce your excessive consumption of paper and contribute with the EssayReduce your excessive consumption of paper and contribute with the environment and community - Essay Example However, there are alternatives to using excessive amounts of paper. Such alternatives are using both sides of the paper, or simply received documents online instead of taking up paper. The government needs to take the lead in combating unnecessary paper consumption by offering incentives to those who are environmentally friendly. Another way that the government can have an effect is to implement laws to reduce paper consumption. Paper manufacturing occurs in many different parts of the world and has a number of impacts on the environment. One of these impacts is how it affects the planet, because paper manufacturing is an extremely energy intensive process. About half of the total energy used is in the pulping process, in addition to rolling and drying the pulp into paper. In 1973, the amount of energy needed to make one ream (500 sheets) of copy paper was equal to 3.7 gallons of gasoline. Because of todayââ¬â¢s advanced technologies, the energy used to make the same amount of pa per takes up just two gallons of gasoline (Zaida, 2000). According to the U.S. Toxic Release Inventory Report published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), pulp and paper mills are among the worst polluters to air, water, and land of any industry in the country (Martin, 2010). The principal concern for the industry is the chemicals that are used for this process, such as chlorine-based bleaches and the resultant toxic emissions to the air, water, and soil. Almost 4 billion trees or 35 percent of the total trees cut around the world are used in paper industries on every continent (Martin, 2010). We use paper in many different waysââ¬âtissue paper, cardboard packaging, stereo speakers, electrical plugs, home insulation, and in the sole inserts in tennis shoes. In short, paper is everywhere. The percentage of paper consumption is growing every year in conjunction with an increasing population. However, there are alternatives to preventing the excessive consumption of paper. One of these choices is to use both sides of print paper. This is one way to help save Mother Earth without having to join Greenpeace or start holding protest marches in your neighborhood. If your information is irrelevant and does not require formality, the information may be printed on both sides of the paper, not only to avoid the high consumption of energy and the harmful chemicals to nature, but also to save money for the cost of purchasing of paper (Arkin, 2010).à Another method is to take your name off mailing lists. It is estimated that over 700 million tons of mail is created each year via mailing lists and direct mailings (ââ¬Å"Ways,â⬠2011). Contacting the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and registering with their Mail Preference Service provides an effective way for you to fight unwanted junk mail. The DMA does not provide marketers with consumer mailing lists or carry out consumer mailings. You should avoid joining mailing lists by taking the precau tion of not sending a form with your name and address to anyone. When filling out a form, such as a warranty, subscription, raffle, customer information card, credit card application, and membership for an organization, add the phrase "please do not rent, sell, or trade my name or address" next to the other information provided. The sales representative will then identify your name and preference in their computer. Yet another way to fight excessive paper consumption jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-22362557761227989702019-11-18T23:31:00.001-08:002019-11-18T23:31:02.856-08:00Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 200Assignment Example The jobs are different, but it can be regulated with the length of the working day. As Bellamy defends equality, he would also defend the equal rights for women. He proposes to pay attention to the things, which were neglected in our past: "let but the famine-stricken nation assume the function it had neglected, and regulate for the common good the course of the life-giving stream, and the earth would bloom like one garden, and none of its children lack any good thing" (pp. 216-217). 4. Abnormalities in oneââ¬â¢s DNA are what cause a genetic disorder. These disorders could be as little as a mutation in a single gene. In another case, they could be as severe as having an extra chromosome, or taking away a chromosome. Genetic disorders are present from birth, but they may not be visibly seen until a later age. Some mutations could be heritable, or from your parents genes. Some forms of cancer can be inherited form a parent. Although, in most cases, these mutations are new changes to the DNA. ââ¬Å"All humans have the same basic set of genesâ⬠. This means that everyone has the probability that they could get a genetic disorder. The thing that makes us different is the genetic sequence. There are many different types of genetic disorders. A few of them are: Angleman syndrome, Hemophilia, Sickle-cell disease, Neurofibromatosis, Cri du chat, and Down syndrome. People are born with these diseases and have to face many challenges every day to live with these genetic mutations. This essay is going to specifically cover one genetic disorder called Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrigââ¬â¢s disease, is a genetic disorder that occurs in the nervous system. Each word in ALS briefly describes what the disorder is. Amyotrophic has two parts to it. The prefix ââ¬Å"amyoâ⬠means muscular atrophy. Atrophy means to waste away, typically due to the degeneration of cells. The suffix ââ¬Å"trophicâ⬠means that it is relating to feeding and nutrition. So to sum it up, amyotrophic means that the muscles have lost their nourishment. Lateral usually means the side of something. In this case, it means that the mutation is affecting the sides of the spine. The sides of the spine are where the nerves that nourish the muscles can be found. Sclerosis is the abnormal hardening of body tissue. In this case its referring to how the mutated part of the spinal cord develops hardened or scarred tissue, in place of healthy nerves. The mutation damages nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The damage caused by it, most of the time, leads to oneââ¬â¢s death. After motor neurons die, the brain is unable to control muscle movement, and the victim becomes paralyzed. It targets the motor neurons that allow you to make voluntary movements and it effects your muscle strength. Voluntary movements are movements in which you control. These are movements that require you to think about the action in order for it to happen. For example, lifting you leg to kick a ball is a voluntary action. Involuntary actions do not require any thinking and some happen automatically, such as your heart beating, or breathing. There are many symptoms in that come along with ALS. Most of the symptoms do not occur unless people reach the age of 50. Although there have been some cases, where the symptoms occur in younger people. According to some studies, the first two muscles that are most often affected are the muscles that allow you to swallow and breathe. There can be many noticeable symptoms because your muscles get weaker. You may notice an increase in gagging, drooling, and choking. You may feel that you cannot lift your head up, because your neck muscles are weak. There are many physical tests that can be given to attempt to diagnose Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Certain physical tests could show muscle weakness in certain areas, weird walk or posture, and abnormal reflexes. There are tests that can be used to diagnose ALS. One method is taking a blood test, so that the doctors can rule out any other possible disease that it could be. Victims can also receive a spinal tap, a MRI, or even a family background check to see if there is any history of ALS in the family. There is one major problem with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Scientists and doctors have still not been able to find a permanent treatment for it. Although there is one medicine called riluzole that can slow down the symptoms, giving victims longer to live. Physical therapy and the use of braces, are non-medicinal ways of helping with the muscle weakness. There are many medications that can be used to help with specific symptoms of ALS. Since choking is common in someone with ALS, most people are hooked up to a tube and are fed through it. This is called a gastrostomy. A gastrostomy is when they make an opening in the stomach from the abdominal wall so they can put in food. This is obviously a surgical procedure. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is named after Lou Gehrig, who was a famous baseball player in 1930s. The French refer to it as Maladie de Charcot because the first recording of ALS was in 1869 by a French doctor named Jean-Martin Charcot. Stephen Hawking is one of the more famous people with ALS. He has had ALS since the start of his adult life, and he has been living with it for more than 50 years. Most people die from it three to five years after the symptoms become noticeable. This is why Stephen Hawkingââ¬â¢s case is very special. It was just after his 21 birthday when he found out something was wrong. Yet he is still living and doing the most he can with his life. For example, being one of the smartest people on earth. People that live with ALS every day. Once the symptoms start to show, and or get serious, they are unable to care for themselves. They are usually taken care of by a family member or even a close friend. In some serious cases, victims must remain at the hospital because they are unable to eat and function without medical assistance. As mentioned previously, the victims sometimes have to be fed through a tube because they are unable to chew. Living with ALS is a very hard thing to do. Itââ¬â¢s hard for the family members, friends, doctors, and most importantly, the victim. jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3171351182500805566.post-73065106699780183622019-11-14T00:33:00.001-08:002019-11-14T00:33:04.160-08:00An Inspector Calls :: English LiteratureAn Inspector Calls Productions seen: à · BBC Television Production (1981) à · Film Production (1954) Part I J.B.Priestly's play is set in the spring of 1912 in the household of an upper-middle class family in the north of England. The plot of this dramatic play is based around the Birling family's involvement in a young girl's suicide. The Birling family consists of the two parents, Arthur and Sybil Birling and their two children Eric and Sheila. Gerald Croft is soon to become a member of the family as he has recently announced his engagement to Sheila. As the story unfolds we find that each of the family members is partly to blame. Which member however carries the most blame? It is important to realise that J.B.Priestly has made it deliberately difficult to place the blame solely on one person. Having read the play and seen two productions of it, I have come to the conclusion that Mrs Birling is the most to blame. This conclusion was founded for many reasons. One such reason was due to the process of elimination. Each Character, although guilty, has different responsibilities and different degrees of blame due to their involvement with the girl, their reaction to the news of her death, how they compare to the other characters and how the audience would or should perceive them. If we first take Mr Birling, who is questioned by the Inspector first. Mr Birling is described by Priestly as 'heavy looking, rather portentous...in his middle fifties with fairly easy manners....rather provincial in his speech." Birling is fairly successful in his line of work and is always striving to become better. He is self-important and slightly pompous. He could even be described as old fashioned. However he is a warm character and the audience should perceive him as such. Examples of this self importance can be found a lot in the text. For example, on page seven of the text, Mr Birling rambles on about such nonsense like " The unsinkable Titanic", "very little chance of a World War" and of "Russia being technically and socially behind" Mr Birling first became acquainted with Eva Smith when she came to work in his factory two years previously. Mr Birling started off the chain of events which lead to Eva's death by firing her from her job for asking for a pay-rise and ( when the rise was refused) for organising a strike. Although Mr Birling shows relatively little guilt or remorse for Eva's death, I do not feel that he is entirely responsible as at the end of the play he does in fact feel very guilty when the Inspector delivers jandiaz1975http://www.blogger.com/profile/07779224108793767147noreply@blogger.com0
